The City Circuit explores Wellington City and the coastline The route travels through Thorndon, Pipitea, Kelburn, Northland, Karori, Te Aro, Mount Victoria, Newtown, Hataitai, Oriental Bay, Kilbirnie, Rongotai, Lyall Bay, Miramar, Karaka Bays, Seatoun, Petone, Wainuiomata and Muritai. Significant features include Parliament, both universities, the airport, hospital and eateries along Courtenay Pl and Manners St, Basin Reserve and the Botanic Garden.
